Eric Shields

Hello My Name Is...

Mr Shields

eh

I have been teaching at Roy Cisneros ES since 2009. I enjoy each year of teaching and look forward to meeting students with each new school year!!!

Originally from Colorado Springs, CO, I have had the opportunity to travel around the United States growing up as a military kid.  I moved to Texas in 2007,
when my wife was stationed at Lackland AFB in  San Antonio with the Air Force. My career as a teacher began in 2009 here in Edgewood ISD, but my background is not in Education. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Art in 1993 from Southwest Baptist University, in Bolivar, MO and I continued my education in Savannah, GA at Savannah College of Art and Design, where I received my Master of Fine Arts in Illustration in 1996.  After moving to Texas, I pursued my Alternative Certification for Teaching and began working at Roy Cisneros upon completion.

I believe every person is an artist. We all look at Art differently and see things we enjoy that others may not.  In Art class, I encourage students to try their best, not worry about mistakes, and encourage each other as we all create Art on different levels.

Lastly, my family is very important to me.  I enjoy spending time with my wife and two beautiful daughters. We all enjoying creating, making, and sharing our talents with others.
